Course Pearson Edexcel GCSE Business (9-1)
Overview

The aims and objectives of this qualification are to enable students to:

Know and understand business concepts, business terminology, business objectives, the integrated nature of business activity and the impact of business on individuals and wider society.

Apply knowledge and understanding to contemporary business issues and to different types and sizes of businesses in local, national, and global contexts.

Develop as enterprising individuals with the ability to think commercially and creatively to demonstrate business acumen, and draw on evidence to make informed business decisions and solve business problems.

Develop as effective and independent students, and as critical and reflective thinkers with enquiring minds.

Use an enquiring, critical approach to make informed judgements.

Investigate and analyse real business opportunities and issues to construct well-argued, well-evidenced, balanced and structured arguments, demonstrating their depth and breadth of understanding of business.

Develop and apply quantitative skills relevant to business, including using and interpreting data.

How will I be assessed

The Pearson Edexcel GCSE (9–1) in Business consists of two externally-examined papers. Students must complete all assessment in May/June in any single year.

Theme 1: Written examination: 1 hour and 45 minutes, 50% of the qualification, 90 marks

Theme 2: Written examination: 1 hour and 45 minutes, 50% of the qualification, 90 marks

Course Pearson BTEC Level 1 Introductory Award in Business
Overview This course is designed for learners wishing to gain an introduction to a chosen vocation area. The Award offers the opportunity for learners to study a sector unit and plan for their next steps by completing the mandatory unit: Developing a Personal Progression Plan.
How will I be assessed

Two units must be achieved in order to pass the course:

Unit A2: Developing a Personal Progression Plan

Unit B11: Recording Income and Expenditure
What will I learn

Unit A2: Learners will develop the skills and behaviours needed to progress to the next stage in their learning, identifying progression opportunities and creating a plan to enable them to get there.

Unit B11: Learners will record and compare income and expenditure using spreadsheet software
